Description
Meet between 7:30am-8am Saturday morning at 117 Willams Farm Rd in Maysville NC 28555 ( This is where we will be parking our cars this year) If you want to follow us there we will have a crew leaving Pogie's at 7am sharp.
Event Details
From here we will take you via van to the Quarry lakes.
We will launch at the Quarry lakes to head down the river.
Then you will have two options-
Option 1 ( Short Paddle)
Paddlers will paddle to The first River exit we get to which, is Dixon Field Landing ( 5 miles, 2 hours paddling time) Paddlers who have had enough and or who are tired can stop here and head home. It will be roughly 10:30 or 11am give or take. This paddle is the easiest and could be considered the prettiest.
Option 2 ( Long Paddle)
From Dixon, the remaining paddlers and guides will combine into one big group and head to Haywoods landings. (5 more miles down the river, 2-3 hour paddling time) This paddle towards the end will get a little difficult depending on tides and wind. We should arrive at Haywood between 1pm and 2pm. This Paddle is a little harder because we get to a bigger part of the river, but gives us more of a chance to see alligators. It's also is home to some huge Cypress trees.
Things to bring-
Sunscreen
Bug Spray
Towels
water and snacks
if you expect to do full paddle then lunch.
proper attire and lightweight rain coat if you have it. ( will help keep water off of you from paddle)
Skill level- Beginner
The last part can sometimes be a little demanding if the wind is coming up river, but still manageable for a beginner level paddler
To sign up for this event please call us at (910)-325-7876.
Don't book a spot unless you're pretty sure your going. We understand things happen that are uncontrollable, but we want to give everyone we can a opportunity for this event. So with that being said if something does arise please call and cancel as soon as possible.
